For years, education and training have been at the heart of Sheffield Wildlife Trust. Giving people the chance to enjoy and understand their own environment is both worthwhile in itself and bodes well for that environment’s future.
Our education team works across Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley to engage children and young people in environmental education and outdoor activities. We offer a range of education services, from work with school groups on our nature reserves and in local parks, to improvements to school grounds including the provision of outdoor classrooms, to formal and informal education opportunities based at Blackburn Meadows Nature Reserve. We also run several outdoor play projects that give children fantastic outdoor experiences in a safe, supervised environment. If you would like to book a school visit please phone our education team on 0114 263 4335.
Wildlife Watch is the junior branch of the Wildlife Trusts, which gives children a way to get involved with activities and find out more about their local environment. In Sheffield there are 7 Watch groups for children aged 8 to 12. The groups do a range of activities from tree planting and nest box building to art projects and wildlife surveys. If you are aged 8 to 12 and you love the outdoors, please contact Nicky Moore at Sheffield Wildlife Trust on 0114 2634335 to find out where your nearest group is.
