| Gardening for Wildlife |
With Britain’s countryside declining in extent and in the quality of its wildlife, the importance of urban wildlife is beginning to be understood. Britain’s gardens take up more than two million acres of land, and they are increasingly recognised as great homes for a huge variety of species. Sheffield now has a Gardens & Allotments Habitat Action Plan designed to safeguard these vital wildlife havens.
Whether you can put in a lot of time or just a few hours, there are lots of ways to encourage wildlife to come to your garden, giving you a chance to enjoy the natural world on your doorstep. Spending a little time each day in a green place measurably reduces stress and helps you relax, too, so wildlife gardening is the number one way you can help the environment and help yourself at the same time.
