The Wildlife Trust works to influence policy development and planning decisions for the benefit of wildlife.
The Trust’s Chief Executive is a board member of Sheffield First for the Environment and leads the Climate Change Adaptation working group. Trust officers have contributed to the development of the Strategic Development Framework for Sheffield and Rotherham and to Sheffield’s Greenspace and Waterways Strategies and we regularly check planning applications to assess the potential impact on wildlife and submit comments where appropriate. We can also assist our members to access information to help them to comment on planning applications from a wildlife conservation perspective.
Our respected reputation as conservationists who understand how the world works, gives us a real voice for Sheffield’s natural world. We work closely with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to influence policy making on a regional level.
