In the last century over 100 native UK species became extinct.
Wildlife continues to face threats from many angles. Economic development, unsustainable agricultural practices and demand for resources all place pressure on our natural ecosystems and habitats. The consequences of climate change could result in a dramatic collapse in biodiversity as species struggle to cope with the impact of rising temperatures and changing weather patterns.
The Wildlife Trust is working to build our understanding of the species and habitats local to our area and is engaging with partners to address these threats.
