Grammar Street

Grammar Street is a relatively large site bounded by Whitehouse Lane, Langsett Crescent and Burnaby Crescent in the Walkley area of Sheffield. It comprises a large, flat open field above steep banking on its north side, areas of scattered trees and some grassland areas that have been allowed to grow longer.

The current designated play area has had all of its equipment removed due to vandalism and there is a history of anti-social behaviour, but the scale and the topography of the site offer many opportunities for varied and exciting play provision.

Local wildlife is already appreciated by residents but there are good opportunities to improve and create new habitats on the site to increase the potential for encounters with nature. Furthermore, there are several places around the site that would lend themselves very well to becoming quiet zones for relaxation away from the built environment.
