As part of our National Lottery Heritage Funded project, Data for Nature, six Great Crested Newt surveys were undertaken over a three month period at Woodhouse Washlands. 

This autumn, Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust will be carrying out restoration work to ancient woodland at Greno Woods nature reserve as part of a long-term management plan which aims to bring about a gradual shift towards the re-establishment of native broadleaf to the north and east of the site, providing a range of benefits to wildlife, people and the landscape.

Wyming Brook Nature Reserve has been recognised for its environmental character, maintenance and visitor experience by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, retaining it’s Green Flag award.

July saw our volunteers complete surveying at Blacka Moor nature reserve looking at bird species richness, thanks to money raised by National Lottery players as part of our Data for Nature project.

Data for Nature – a new Heritage Lottery-funded initiative run by Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust – will help to increase understanding of the wildlife and habitats in nature reserves across Sheffield and Rotherham.

Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust’s Centenary Riverside nature reserve has been chosen by Sarah Champion, MP for Rotherham, as the site for the planting of five saplings, including a hazel, two silver birch and two rowan trees.

After five weeks’ work we’re pleased to be able to say that we have completed work on our new Moss Valley Woodland track!
