Nick Lyall joined the Police Force in 1999 and is now Head of Operations with Bedfordshire Police Force where he holds a number of senior roles including Strategic Firearms Commander, Gold Public Order Commander and Gold Multi-Agency Incident Commander.
Just over a year ago Nick successfully applied for the additional ‘voluntary’ role of Chairing the National Wildlife Crime Unit’s Raptor Persecution Priority Delivery Group (RPPDG) – a multi-agency partnership tasked with tackling the growing incidents of illegal birds of prey persecution across the country.
Speaking about his role on the RPPDG Nick said,
“I live in an area that has an abundance of red kite and buzzard, having realised that our birds are persecuted to suit the interests of those that see them as a pest and that many people can’t experience raptors in the sky where they live, made me want to do something to change this. I applied to Chair the RPPDG in order to lead the partnership response to tackling this issue.”
