Thank you to everyone who has supported this campaign over the last five years. We have raised over £16,000 and this appeal has now closed.
The current Government recently (April 2024) published a new consultation which included a significant policy change from moving towards ending badger culling by 2027, to one more open-ended. The consultation lacked detail and justification for this and The Wildlife Trusts nationally, alongside Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust have contributed to this. A summary of the issues can be found in this blog. It keeps alive the threat to badgers.
We hope to have more clarity over the Government and policy situation on this issue after the general election, and so have decided that a delayed decision into late 2024/early 2025 on delivering this work programme will be beneficial.
