Donate to our Badger Appeal!
Current total of donations and pledges: £13,376 of £50,000.
Sheffield and Rotherham’s badgers are now at threat from the badger cull. Your donation could help us to protect our local badger population and deter culling from taking place.
Although there are currently no licenses for badger culling in Sheffield and Rotherham, a license to cull could be granted for Low Risk Areas like ours at any time.
We’re hoping to raise £50,000 to help us begin rolling out a badger vaccination programme at selected sites and/or work with local farmers and other landowners to improve biosecurity – preventative measures to stop cattle coming into contact with badgers and other herds, reducing the chances of infection and hopefully preventing any requirement for culling in our area. If for any reason we are unable to carry out vaccination or biosecurity work, we’ll invest the funds in land management work to improve habitats for badgers in our area. Our appeal and work programme will continue until 2024.
£10 could buy 5kg peanuts to attract badgers
£45 could buy enough vaccine for one badger
£500 could buy a portable fridge for the vaccine
£1300 could pay for us to train a vaccinator
“Following the Government’s decision to expand culling to Low Risk Areas, badgers could now be culled in Sheffield and Rotherham. We need your help to stop this happening. If we can take early action to protect our badger population, we’re hopeful we can stop culling from taking place. Please give what you can to our appeal and help us save our local badgers.”
