Help us to keep on campaigning for wildlife
We need to raise £12,000 to continue our campaigns and advocacy work.
Our Advocacy Team

This is Nicky Rivers, Living Landscape Development Manager and Ian Cracknell, Advocacy Officer, from our very small but dedicated and effective Advocacy Team, which also includes Megan Carroll – Nature Recovery Community Engagement Officer. Liz Ballard, CEO, also plays a crucial role in influencing, particularly at the senior level.
It is our priority to Take Action for Nature, for example by including influencing decision makers to do the right thing for nature, but also to support you, our members and supporters, to Take Action.
Last year we responded to 23 planning applications and influenced 20, many of which involved supporting local people with their wildlife concerns.
In total we responded to 77 calls from help from the public around threats to wildlife or how best to take positive action for nature.
We also responded to 21 local and national consultations – to influence policies and other decisions that could have an influence on nature’s recovery and people’s access to green space.
Our work also engaged over 3,500 people in different campaigns to champion nature!
And most importantly – this work really makes a difference for both people and wildlife. Read about the difference our work supporting Owlthorpe Fields Action Group has made here.

To provide this expert advice our team need to be knowledgeable, skilled and experienced in species and habitats, wildlife law, policies and politics and ‘how things work’ such as the planning system and site designation and to be able to explain this to people who get in touch. We also need to keep up to date with changing legislation, politics and how and when to influence.
BUT there are few grants available for this area of work, and although it is supported by our membership, we need to raise a further £12,000 to carry on this work over the next 7 months.
We are appealing to you to make a donation now using the form below. Every £1 you give will go towards our work helping to save precious places like Owlthorpe Fields. Please help us champion wildlife and help you to do the same.
You can donate using the form below or send a cheque payable to Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust – please include a note to say it is for our Taking Action for Nature Appeal.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and thank you very much for your support for local wildlife across Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust.
