Please find below lots of free resources for teachers and home schoolers to keep your pupils learning, entertained and connecting with nature. We’re always interested in ways to do more, so do let us know how else we can support you – email schools@wildsheffield.com with your ideas and requests.
Nicholas Fuller, an online teacher from Homeschooling Adventure got in touch to tell us how our resources had helped one special group of children:
“We have been discussing about nature and wildlife and while looking for information, we came across your web page and we wanted to say thank you!”
Inspired by their investigations, one of the students did some research and found an article with a lot of really great information on creating a wildlife watching room, and wanted to share it with us and our visitors. Thank you Chloe!
Action for Insects schools guide
We have a new FREE suite of resources available for teachers, uniformed groups and home schoolers. Six sessions have been developed aimed to inspire young people about our amazing insects, the problems they face and actions we can take to make a difference.
Our bugs, moths, butterflies and other insects are in deep trouble. Insects are dying out up to 8 times faster than larger animals, and 41% of insights face extinction. But it’s not too late! Our Action for Insects campaign has been created to help these special creatures, and we want schools to take part. That’s why we’ve produced the school guide, full of lessons plans and resources to help your school to take action for insects.
Whether it’s through a bug hunt, creating insect homes in your school grounds, or delivering a campaign to help insects, there are lots of ways that your school can make a difference and learn at the same time.
