Loxley Valley development is refused at planning appeal

Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust welcome the Planning Inspectorate’s decision this week to refuse the appeal made by Patrick Properties to build 300 houses at the former Loxley Works (Hepworth) site in the Loxley Valley.

Dr Nicola Rivers, who led the Trust’s response to the application said: “In 2020 we submitted a 21 page objection to this application as there were so many areas where it fell woefully short of what may be acceptable at this sensitive green belt river valley site which is home to important and protected wildlife, including several bat species.

Sheffield City Council made the right decision refusing this application and we have supported all the organisations who have defended this case at the appeal stage.”
