Wyming Brook nature reserve retains Green Flag award for seventh year

Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust is celebrating achieving the Green Flag Award at Wyming Brook nature reserve for the seventh consecutive year.

The award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.

After two years that have seen our parks and green spaces play a vital role for people through lockdowns as a place to relax, exercise and meet friends and family safely, the news that Wyming Brook has achieved the Green Flag Award is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team, volunteers and members that make the nature reserve a great space that everyone can enjoy.

Paul Jarman, Nature Recovery Manager (North) for Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust said:

“It is excellent news that Wyming Brook nature reserve has achieved Green Flag Award status for the seventh year running.

“Everyone at Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust is extremely proud of the international recognition this award gives such an amazing, popular and unique nature reserve.

“Of course such an accolade is only made possible by incredible staff, generous members and dedicated volunteers who work continuously to ensure the very best environment for nature, wildlife and visitors.”

Commenting on the news that Wyming Brook nature reserve has met the Green Flag Award standard, Keep Britain Tidy’s Accreditation Manager Paul Todd said:

“I would like to congratulate everyone involved in making Wyming Brook nature reserve worthy of a Green Flag Award.

“Wyming Brook is a vital green space for the community in Sheffield. This award is testament to all the hard work of staff and volunteers, who do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
