Join us at Rivelin Reservoir for a volunteering session from 10-3 carrying out gentle conservation tasks. These sessions are suitable for all levels of confidence and experience – no conservation background required!
We will be pulling himalayan balsam out to allow wildlife to thrive. This is a great opportunity to visit a beautiful local wildlife site and learn about the management carried out on-site, meet new people and some get outdoors exercise in.
We will have 2 breaks for tea and lunch (but if you need to take extra breaks just ask!). Coffee, tea and biscuits will be provided.
Please bring drinking water, lunch and outdoor clothing suitable for the weather. Outdoors clothing can be borrowed from us, and I can also offer lifts to the site from our yard if asked in advance.
Please note there are no toilets on-site, and the ground is steep and uneven in areas.
Free bookable event
If you have any questions about the session, need to cancel or are running late please contact me on m.thimm@wildsheffield.com or 07517054447 or Penny on p.kirk@wildsheffield.com or 07563 833278.
We will meet at Rivelin Dams carpark at 10am: https://maps.app.goo.gl/pm6TGdBRAKXohaUh7
Are you 14 to 17 and would like to volunteer on a work day? Please get in touch in advance with us on nature.reserves@wildsheffield.com so that relevant forms are filled in beforehand and the work day is suitable. If you are 14 – 15 you must be accompanied by an adult at all times. If you are 16 – 17 you will need to have a parental consent form.
If you have a caution, unspent conviction or spent conviction that is not defined as protected, as part of our duty of care we have a process that we need to follow before we can decide whether to accept your application to volunteer. Please therefore do NOT sign up via our ticket system but instead contact volunteering@wildsheffield.com to discuss next steps.
