Louise Haigh MP visits Carbrook Ravine

On Wednesday 26 August, a team from Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust met with Louise Haigh, MP for Sheffield Heeley at Carbrook Ravine nature reserve.

CEO Liz Ballard, Living Landscape Development Manager Nicky Rivers, Living Landscapes Manager (South) Nabil Abbas and Advocacy Officer Ian Cracknell met with Louise to provide a guided tour of the reserve, where a group of volunteers from the Trust were also carrying out land management work on the meadow.

Before visiting the reserve itself, the group showed Louise the nearby Pipworth Rec site, which features an example of a Sustainable Urban Drainage System managed by Sheffield City Council to demonstrate the principles of Natural Flood Management.

The team then gave Louise a tour around the reserve, where kestrel were observed flying overhead as we discussed our Action for Insects campaign, the Environment Bill and Agriculture Bill, the Sheffield Working Street Tree Strategy, planning issues and opportunities to aid nature’s recovery.
