As part of the River Restoration Project, our volunteers have just planted 200 native tree whips across the site. These trees will be so important for the reserve – As they grow, they will provide food and shelter for breeding birds, stabilise the riverbanks to protect against erosion, and will also help the resilience of the river against climate change.

Following on from the success of last year’s project that saw over 30 ponds created or restored across South Yorkshire and Derbyshire on behalf of Natural England, Wildscapes CIC have been appointed again to deliver a number of ponds across Doncaster and Barnsley this winter.
Volunteers support Redmires water vole survey
Thanks to National Lottery players water vole (Arvicola amphibius) is one of six species being supported through the Sheffield Lakeland Landscape Partnership which have found their home along the Conduit, ditches, drains and rushy run offs at Redmires.
