Rachel King is a lifelong Sheffield resident with strategic marketing and communications experience across local government and higher education. She is keen to support the Trust on expanding its reach and engaging with diverse audiences
As a lifelong Sheffield resident, I am passionate about protecting our local environment and ensuring everyone in our region we can connect with nature. With over two decades of strategic marketing and communications experience across local government and higher education, I am keen to support Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust (SRWT) in expanding its reach, engaging diverse audiences, and strengthening long-term financial resilience.
Currently Head of Marketing Campaigns at The University of Sheffield, I manage multi-channel strategies and a £900k budget with a focus on financial governance and impact evaluation. My previous senior roles at Sheffield City and Barnsley councils gave me deep roots in regional regeneration, community advocacy, and local public-sector dynamics across South Yorkshire.
ln addition, as Vice Chair of the Chartered lnstitute of the Marketing (ClM) Higher Education Group, I bring non-executive governance, strategic risk navigation, and board-level experience, complemented by active local volunteering in grassroots sport and education.
What particularly attracts me to this trustee role is the opportunity to combine my professional skills in audience development and strategic communications with my personal drive for community wellbeing, green space access, and nature recovery across our region.
