Celebrating with Eastwood Funfest2 October, 2019 25 June, 2024 Eastwood Funfest is a neighbourhood celebration that takes place on the Natural Neighbours project site, Eldon Road Recreation Ground and is the result of a community effort led by Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust’s Natural Neighbours Project and the Clifton Learning Partnership. The annual summer event continues to grow and is becoming a highlight of the community’s calendar. This year’s theme was ‘Carnival’, and the day showcased local musical talent, costume and mask making, cooking, play and craft activities, with a carnival procession led by Sheffield Samba band. Natural Neighbours were involved in organisation and planning and were on site for the day talking to people about their local green space and making wooden medallions with children. Natural Neighbours is funded by The National Lottery Communities Fund. It offers a unique opportunity to work with communities across four areas in Rotherham, supporting these areas to celebrate and take ownership of the green spaces right on their doorstep.
