Olivia Blake MP visits Ughill Farm2 June, 2023 11 June, 2024 On Thursday 1st June Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust CEO Liz Ballard, Sheffield Lakeland Landscape Manager Keith Tomkins and Advocacy Officer Ian Cracknell met with Olivia Blake MP at Ughill Farm — the location of our exciting new opportunity to save a special local place for nature in her constituency. The Member of Parliament for Sheffield Hallam was provided with a guided tour of the site, where we saw Hare, Curlew, Lapwing, Skylark and Swift among lots of other wildlife. Additionally we discussed various current issues concerning nature and the environment, including the Climate and Ecology Bill (which Olivia introduced to Parliament in May 2023), our concerns regarding the threats to nature protection posed by the REUL Bill and finding out more about Labour’s national policy on nature and the environment. Olivia seemed very impressed by the amount of wildlife on show during our time together and shared our excitement about our future plans for Ughill Farm, which will be shared in more detail through our fundraising appeal later in the year. We will continue to liaise with Olivia on key local and national issues and will keep her updated with the project as it develops. Find out more about Ughill Farm Join Liz Ballard for a virtual introduction to Ughill Farm, with the opportunity for discussion and questions, on Wednesday 12th July at 7pm via Zoom.
