The Intercultural Stories project was designed and delivered by the University of Sheffield’s School of Languages and Cultures in 2023/4. It was created to find out more about how people connect with nature – allowing them the space to tell their stories, and looking at the common themes in those stories, and commonalities in the barriers to people accessing and enjoying nature.
Partners involved include the following organisations: Manor and Castle Development Trust; Natural Neighbours; New Beginnings (Sheffield); Peak District Mosaic; SACMA; SADACCA; SOAR Community; Wild at Heart; ZEST; Scout Association and Woodcraft Folk
This was a rich and multi-layered project, and sought contributions from a wide range of people, who offered an insight into the interconnectedness of their own experience with their identities, their relationships with themselves and others and with nature.
Watch this short (6 minute) video and hear from people involved with the project, about what nature means to them.
If this project has inspired you, you can read more about the Intercultural Stories in a Booklet and a Toolkit produced for the project. The full report is also available by licking the link here too:
