To help achieve our vision and deliver our strategy, the SYLNP has undertaken the following activity to ensure South Yorkshire’s natural environment is:

Mapping Our Natural Assets
We have developed South Yorkshire maps of:
- Nature Recovery Networks – Priority Habitats and Opportunity Areas
- Current Landscape-scale Conservation Projects
- Natural Capital and Ecosystem Services
2. Recognised for its contribution to a sense of place and enhanced quality of life for all
Sense of Place
- Northern Forest Workshop 1 March 2019: Co-ordinated a workshop for South Yorkshire on the opportunities and challenges the Northern Forest presents.
- Sheffield City Region Vision: comments included in Chapter 6 and continued dialogue with co-ordinators.
3. At the heart of decision-making for sustainable social and economic development
Duty to Co-operate
- Responded to Barnsley Local Plan, met with BMBC re: Approach to Local Plan in November 2022
- Submitted initial response for Doncaster Local Plan
- Waiting for Sheffield draft Local Plan consultation to begin, expected January 2023
- Rotherham Local Plan has been adopted
